Pioneer Productions Company has once again partnered with the Morristown & Morris Township Library for the 2025 New Play Readings Series. The series will include three nights of original short plays by renowned local playwrights from New Jersey and the surrounding areas.
Three pieces will be performed each night (approximately 10-15 minutes each) by some of Pioneer’s most talented actors. The venue provides an intimate setting for an open Q&A with the audience following each set of performances. These events are free and open to the public thanks to the generosity of the Morris & Morris Township Library and a grant provided to Pioneer Productions Company from Morris Arts. All performances will take place at 7pm in the Gallery Room at the Morristown & Morris Township Library, located at 1 Miller Road in Morristown. Reading dates and play synopses are as follows:

- Eventually Ever After, by Dan Maurer - A woman writer submits a story to her otherwise all-male writers group without telling them the piece is autobiographical. As the men deliver their scathing critiques, it quickly becomes evident that she has a different story to tell than the one on the page. Directed by Doug McLaughlin. Featuring performances by Charles Grayson, Jeff Campbell, Gabi Wagner Mann, Tom Olori, and Jon Beeler.
- Not a Mermaid, by Dana Leslie Goldstein - Sylvie and Tess are sisters, but they may as well have grown up in two different homes. Years later, Tess wants to know Sylvie, if it’s not too late. Directed by Dan Vissers. Featuring performances by Christiane Lange and Miriam Salerno.
- What Happens in PreK Stays in PreK, by Holly Stefanik - A typical, comedic morning in a preschool classroom, first-year teacher Hazel with six of her Pre-K 4 students. Through multiple confusing conversations and exhausted moments with her children, she is reminded of why she is a teacher in the first place. Directed by Tiffany Bizub. Featuring performances by Tiffany Bizub, Tom Olori, Jon Beeler, Dan Vissers, Tracey Lynn Haskell, Shanna Levine-Phelps, and Lauren Mangine.
- Grown-up Stuff, by D.L. Siegel - Ru and Cal are appalled when their biracial Jewish daughter comes home from school with a swastika drawn on her backpack. But they have to confront the failures of their own parenting when they realize she drew it herself. Directed by Dan Vissers, Featuring performances by Shanna Levine-Phelps and Doug McLaughlin.
- Jump, by Jeff Campbell - On the precipice of divorce, John and his daughter Cary find themselves inadvertently locked on the roof where they realize they both must find the courage to jump—by standing up for themselves and facing their fears. Directed by Dan Vissers. Featuring performances by Dan Vissers and Ashlee Vissers.
- Der Fröhliche Wanderer, by Stephanie Buckley - Boy and Girl are having relationship problems complicated by the fact that they are automatons living in a chalet-style cuckoo clock. Directed by Dan Vissers. Featuring performances by Ken Hatlee and Tiffany Bizub.
- In the Name of the Mother, by Holly Stefanik - Two women stumble into a church when they have reached their lowest point, both discovering an unexpected pregnancy. As their lives are about to change forever, they debate the reality of motherhood, being a woman, and religion. Directed by Miriam Salerno. Featuring performances by Sarah Pharaon, Madeline Tofias, and Tom Olori.
- Quantum Suicide, by Duncan Pflaster - A female inventor brings home a man from a party, but, as she has just invented a time travel machine, future versions of her arrive to advise her to stay with or give up on future plans for the man (who may or may not be her future husband). Directed by Doug McLaughlin. Featuring performances by Jennifer Cooper, Lauren Proda, Luana Cook Scott, and David Murgittroyd .
- Channeling Shakespeare, by David Weil Baker - A frustrated writer and overextended mom receives some unexpected help from a past master. Directed by Tom Olori. Featuring performances by Miriam Salerno and Doug McLaughlin.
